Available Position: South Coast Office Director
The Coastal Conservation League, a non-profit organization advocating for sensible growth management on the coast, seeks a Director for its South Coast Office. The organization’s land use program encompasses work on rural land protection, urban development and design, and transportation issues. Responsibilities include proactive development of land use strategies and oversight to ensure cohesion and focus in the League’s land use work.
Must have experience and familiarity with land use policy — Smart Growth and New Urbanism. Responsibilities of this position include monitoring and crafting effective strategies to implement land use policies at the state and local levels, tracking proposed ordinances and policies related to conservation and growth management, managing and advising staff members in land use matters, working with and maintaining relationships with the League’s South Coast board members and participating in local and state-wide discussions on growth management.
This position also includes writing grants for the South Coast area efforts and assisting the development staff as needed with grant submissions.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, as well as prior experience in land use planning and environmental issues. Strategic thinker with leadership and creative problem solving capability, grass-roots experience, excellent research, writing and public-speaking skills are required, as well as having the ability to manage multiple projects.
