South Coast Office Project Manager
Reed joined the League in early 2001 after retiring from a 30 year career as an oceanographer with NOAA. He earned his BA in Mathematics from Texas A&M University and worked towards a PhD in oceanography fromFlorida State University. Reed has been very active in issues of environmental and cultural protection and preservation in the Beaufort area. In addition, he is a member of the Lowcountry Landowners Association and the St. Helena Community Preservation Committee. He also serves on the Technical Review Committee for clean-up of hazardous waste sites on Parris Island and on the Advisory Board for Beaufort’s Clemson Extension Service. Reed and his wife, Patti, live on St. Helena Island and have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, birding, canoeing and other natural appreciation activities.
