Odyssey Week 2010 Returns to South Carolina October 11-15, 2010

The Palmetto State Clean Fuels Coalition will be working with the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC), West Virginia University and many other local PSCFC Stakeholders in hosting Odyssey Week 2010 in four South Carolina cities from October 11-15, 2010.

Odyssey Week will kick off in Columbia, South Carolina at the University of South Carolina GreenQuad Learning Center on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11:00am with The Business Case: Policy Changes for Alternative Fuel Fleets in Institutional Environments and presented by Derrick Huggins of the University of South Carolina. We will have speakers on hand who will be covering certain alternative fuels like hydrogen, biofuels, and electricity.

On Wednesday, October 13th, we’ll be in Rock Hill, South Carolina for the next Odyssey Week event which will be at the Galleria. Charlie Messina with Carolina Energy Distributors will be presenting The Business Case: Auxiliary Power Units (APU) and other Idle Reduction Technologies for Fleets. Later that day, the York Technical College will open up their doors and allow attendees a first hand look at South Carolina’s only National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium facility.

The Palmetto State Clean Fuels Coalition will continue onto Sumter, South Carolina on Thursday, October 14th for an excellent Odyssey Day event to be held at Palmetto Gas’ Sumter location for a behind the scenes look at vehicle conversion systems for light, medium, and heavy duty vehicles. Monte McLeod of Palmetto Gas and Bob Gahagan of Green Pro Fuels will be on hand to talk about The Business Case: How municipalities Can Save Taxpayer Money by Converting Fleets to Alternative Fuels. A Ride n’ Drive event will be open to the public and the day will come to a close with a networking social at a to be determined location that evening in the Sumter area.

Finally, We will meet in Greenville, South Carolina for the grand finale. The National Odyssey Day will occur at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research on October 15th, the National Odyssey Day. The event will begin at 11:00 and will be jam packed with great information to the business community and the public about alternative fuel vehicles. Come by and check out a Tesla Roadster, a Propane powered Police Cruiser, and a special announcement by Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp.
