Offshore drilling rally Monday
Charleston, SC – On Monday, August 7 at 6 pm at the Yacht Club at the Charleston Harbor Fish House, elected leaders and offshore drilling expert Peg Howell will update the public on what’s next with federal government attempts to open up our coast for offshore drilling for oil and gas. The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is accepting comment through August 17 on if it should allow drilling for oil and gas off the southeast coast, and speakers will share the best way to get involved with the more than 150 lowcountry residents who have signed up to attend. Don’t Drill Lowcountry, Stop Offshore Drilling in the Atlantic (SODA), Coastal Conservation League, Oceana, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, and Southern Environmental Law Center are sponsoring the event.
