Proposed construction-waste landfill draws fire, despite would-be developer’s promises

Nearly 200 people packed the cafeteria of Baptist Hill High School on Tuesday night and spilled out into the halls for a hearing where most opposed plans to create a construction-waste landfill in Adams Run.

Would-be landfill developer Tre Sheppard of Mount Pleasant told the crowd and members of Charleston County Council that the landfill wouldn’t be seen, wouldn’t be noisy and wouldn’t contaminate the water or otherwise harm the environment….

Few in the audience seemed convinced.
