The Coastal Conservation League is excited to partner with Tia Clark on a Casual Crabbing with Tia event!
Join us to learn the tricks of crabbing with Charleston native, Tia, and hear from Conservation League staff on what we are doing to protect and restore the wildlife, habitat, and water quality in the Charleston area.
Meeting at the dock, you will learn about the importance of healthy estuaries and fisheries and what you can do to ensure we continue to support this habitat and fishery into the future. We will master the art of throwing a cast net, casting the fishing rod, and setting bait to catch crabs. Tia will show us the safe, responsible way to handle the blue crabs, so no need to worry about getting pinched!
Craving the freshest possible seafood? You can take your legal size caught crabs home with you to cook your favorite crab recipe.
What’s included? Water, all crabbing equipment, and bait. If you want to take home any crabs, they will be cleaned and bagged, but please bring your own cooler.
Don’t forget to get a license! Make sure that anyone 16 years and older has an up-to-date saltwater fishing license. Here is the link to the SCDNR website where you can purchase your license. You can also purchase a license in person at SCDNR’s Marine Resources Campus and at your local bait and tackle shop. You must have your own license to participate.
