CHARLESTON, SC – The Coastal Conservation League, an environmental advocacy organization, is pleased to announce that Chief Financial Officer Joel Sandstrom was recently recognized as the recipient of the 2024 Senior Financial Executive of the Year – Small Business Award given by the Charleston CFO Council. The award was announced and awarded during a reception in October.
The Conservation League welcomed Joel Sandstrom as Chief Financial Officer in May 2024. A graduate of Appalachian State University, Joel holds 20 years of for-profit and nonprofit accounting expertise.

“Joel is an invaluable member of our staff, presenting his experience in a new and fresh way that aids our mission and vision,” Director of Human Resources Elizabeth Gibson said. “He received this award after just five months of work with the Conservation League, demonstrating his passion and dedication in advocating for our community.”
“I am privileged to have the opportunity to support the Coastal Conservation League’s mission of protecting the South Carolina coast,” Joel said. “This award not only validates my current efforts but also the support and guidance I’ve received from family, friends, and mentors.”
