The Coastal Conservation League welcomed Joel Sandstrom to the team as Chief Financial Officer in May of 2024. A graduate of Appalachian State University, Joel brings 20 years of for-profit and nonprofit accounting expertise. In his most recent position, Joel served six years as CFO at Call Experts, where he used financial processes to enhance profit margins, institute incentive programs, managed facilities, and streamlined accounts receivables processes, as well as other company-wide initiatives. With 10 years of experience in senior accounting roles with the South Carolina Research Authority (Senior Accountant) and the East Cooper Montessori Charter School (Director of Finance), he is quite familiar with the complexity of accounting needs. In his new role, Joel will focus on financial reporting, facilities oversight, board communication, and process improvement.
Joel is an avid outdoorsman and has been watching the changes to the South Carolina community over the last 20 years. Joining the Conservation League achieves his goal of finding a role where he could utilize his skill set in finance to support a mission that protects our environment.
