Things are gearing up with the new planning efforts for Union Pier, starting with a series of workshops beginning this month through the spring! The focus of these workshops is to connect community members with the Union Pier team and the community-driven planning process and reintroduce them to the history, characteristics, opportunities, constraints and challenges of the site.
These workshops will feature Sasaki, the globally recognized design firm leading the development of the Union Pier plan, as well as Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects (who recently spoke at our annual Winthrop Forum!), James Lima Planning + Development, and The Asiko Group.
The first workshops in the series will take place January 24th and 25th in downtown Charleston. The January 24th workshop is scheduled from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, and the January 25th event will take place from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. See the image below for location details.
This is the first of many opportunities to get involved with the Union Pier site redevelopment process. We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your insights on the project!
