Please join us Saturday, Oct. 25, for a paddle excursion on the Edisto River! We will be tagging along with the Edisto River Canoe and Kayak Trail (ERCK) Commission for their meetup at Colleton State Park.
Our trek down the river begins with our launch from Green Pond Landing. Along the route, we will pass by the site of the proposed Canadys gas plant. Staff from the Coastal Conservation League will be available to answer questions about the project, the associated pipeline that would cut through the ACE Basin, transmission line upgrades, electric rate impacts, and the data center boom that’s driving the forecasted energy demand growth being cited to justify it all.
The paddle will last between 3 and 4 hours and includes time for a lunch break. We will wrap up at the landing at Colleton State Park.
The Conservation League will provide bagged lunches for everyone who pre-registers. We have different ticket levels available, as ERCK will have kayaks to rent for $35 per boat (includes shuttle service). If you want to bring your own kayak, shuttle service will be available for $10 per person.
We hope you can experience the beauty of the Edisto — the longest undammed blackwater river in North America — and learn more about what you can do to help protect it!
