Why is this meeting important?

In May 2019, South Carolina’s General Assembly passed the Energy Freedom Act, a landmark bill that:

  • Removed caps on rooftop solar and promoted a more economical system for ratepayers,
  • Set up a process for the growth of large-scale solar,
  • And required a rigorous review of new power plants.

The law leaves many key implementation decisions to the Public Service Commission, or “PSC,” which is a seven-member government body in Columbia, that ultimately decides how and where we get our electricity.

For more than a decade, the Conservation League has been working with experts in utility economics and planning, as well as legal experts, to find practical solutions to advance the clean energy economy in South Carolina.

Tune in to learn the status of the Energy Freedom Act and how conserve ation groups are helping to secure clean and affordable energy for our state.
