Dominion SC & Santee Cooper are proposing to build one of the largest methane gas plants in the U.S. in Canadys at the site of a former coal plant. The proposed site is located in the heart of the ACE Basin, on the banks of the Edisto River, and requires the expansion of hundreds of miles of gas pipeline. Expanding the pipeline will likely encourage additional industrial development along the pipeline, introducing additional pollution and changing the character of rural areas.
