Join us on Sunday for Rally for the Edisto, an opportunity to come together to express concerns over the impacts that a new mega gas plant in Canadys would have on the surrounding community and the Edisto River, the last undammed “wild” river left in South Carolina, and one of the longest free-flowing blackwater rivers in North America. This plant would have negative impacts on the Canadys community and the surrounding wildlife that call the Edisto home. As well, it would require a new pipeline to be constructed through the ACE Basin, one of the largest areas of undeveloped wetlands/uplands ecosystems remaining on the Atlantic Coast.
We’ll be at Colleton State Park with other regional conservation and environmental organizations from 2:00-5:00 PM this Sunday, April 7 to Rally for the Edisto. This will be a fun, outdoor, family-friendly event.
Following the rally, there will be an opportunity to paddle past the site of the Canadys plant. Please RSVP if you’re able to join us and plan to bring your own boat.
You can read more about the Edisto and the plant threatening it at the links below. We hope to see you there!
