Join us on Tuesday, July 28 at 6pm for a one-of-a-kind, exciting, and educational sunset nature cruise to Crab Bank, a State Seabird Sanctuary and Eastern Brown Pelican Rookery in the Charleston Harbor.
Purchase your ticket today and for a limited time only, receive a complimentary signed copy of DEVEAUX, a beautiful book that chronicles the annual cycle of seabird reproduction and renewal on an ephemeral sandbar in South Carolina.
We will run three guided boat tours from the Coastal Expeditions dock (514-B Mill Street) on Shem Creek out to Crab Bank Seabird Sanctuary. This will be the chance for a close-up view of the seabird sanctuary from the water (the island is currently closed and protected by SCDNR). Each guided tour will last approximately 35 minutes and will take place on the Skimmer—a custom built 2014 Carolina Skiff that can hold up to 20 people. Time slots for the guided tours will take place on a first come first served basis upon check-in at the dock. The last tour will leave the dock at 7:15pm.
The following experts will lead the tours:
Dana Beach, Coastal Conservation League Executive Director
Felicia Sanders, S.C. Department of Natural Resources Biologist
Captain Chris Crolley, Coastal Expeditions
In between tours you can relax on the dock with some light refreshments, watch the dolphins play in the creek, and soak in the sunset. OR bring your swimsuit and jump in the creek to cool off! We will have paddleboards available for folks to go exploring on the creek.
Note: This event is for adults only.
